Vivo Z1 Pro Review | More than Camera!

Sanjeev Dulal 30 Jul, 2019

Vivo was somehow popular for camera phones earlier and the case has completely changed in recent days. We can’t deny that Vivo has added quite innovations in its smartphones in the past couple of years. Vivo is working more on the screen, battery, camera, and the design – which are the key factors of smartphones for the buyers. The new Z series doesn’t stand out of this line of innovation in which the Vivo aims the phone to target generation Z. Vivo Z1 Pro – the first phone from the series packs some premium features.

The Vivo Z1 Pro is priced at Rs. 14,990 in India for the base variant and the expected price of Z1 Pro in Nepal is Rs. 24,999. The phone aims to compete with two major series from the rival smartphones brands. Z1 Pro is expected to be in par with Samsung’s M series and Xiaomi’s Redmi series. M series and Redmi series are quite popular mid-range series in the market these days. Now, let’s dive into more information about Vivo Z1 Pro and don't forget to check the latest price of Vivo mobile phones in Nepal

Vivo Z1 Pro Overview

Design/Display

The Vivo Z1 Pro packs 6.5-inch FHD+ display with the resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. The IPS panel is good to look at and the resolution is great enough. The display has a hole in the top-left corner housing the 32MP selfie camera. The best part of the display is – no notch and no big bezels at the side of the screen.

Vivo Z1 Pro Design

On the design side of the things, Vivo Z1 Pro is 201 grams in weight and 8.85mm thick. The overall design is not a head-turner but packs every aesthetics that a smartphone of 2019 needs. There is a speaker grille on top and yes the phones pack 3.5mm headphone jack. The back panel of the phone makes it look good with its reflective glossy coating. You get a good fingerprint sensor at the back and even a face lock sensor at the front.

Performance

Vivo has focused on performance in its Z series of phones. Z1 Pro comes with new and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor and this is one of the most popular mid-range chipsets in the market. The SD 710 has eight cores – 2×2.3 GHz Kryo 360 Gold & 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver. In the graphics end, there is Adreno 616 which is good enough for the phone in this price range. Z1 Pro runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) on top of its custom Funtouch 9.0.

Vivo's phones are based on Funtouch OS, a very massively altered UI for Android 9. While we compare to the stock Android, we can see a lot of changes and all of them are not too useful. The only speaker on the underside of this phone is quite loud, but sound tends to distort at high volume and headphones are quite clumsy.

Camera

The Vivo Z1 Pro packs triple camera at the back and the great selfie camera at the front. There are 16MP+8MP+2MP sensors of which, 16MP sensor has an aperture of f/1.78 and acts as the main camera. The second 8MP sensor is for the wide-angle shots and the 2MP sensor is for wide-angle shots.

Vivo Z1 Pro Camera

The 32 MP front camera is quite great in a paper but we can only know its capability after we use it. The overall camera setup in Z1 Pro is acceptable.

Battery and Others

The battery size is also one of the appealing factors of Z1 Pro. There is a massive 5000 mAh battery in the phone which is expected to back the phone for almost two days. Good job Vivo!
