Sony Xperia 5 Announced | Affordable Xperia Version from Sony

Sony has a long history of electronic products and smartphones. Tough they are still successful in shipping electronic products but they are failing to stand tall in terms of smartphones. Xperia Series from Sony is one of the well-known devices in the market. The latest one to join this line up is Sony Xperia 5. As Sony Xperia costs $949, this new Sony Xperia costs $799.99 in the European market. So, we can understand this Sony Xperia 5 is an affordable version of Xperia 1 just like Samsung Galaxy S10e to Samsung Galaxy S10 Series or iPhone XR to iPhone 10 Series. Sony Xperia 5 Overview



Sony still denies replacing top bezels with a fancy notch, punch-hole or sliding camera or many more. This Sony Xperia 5 still got bezels on both the top and at the bottom. Xperia 5 comes in 6.1” FHD+ HDR OLED display. This device has a screen to body ratio of 21:9 and a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels.


This phone has an aluminum frame and Gorilla glass finish on both the back and front sides with availability in black, red, white and blue colors. 


As this device stands on the Premium mid-range category, Sony powered Xperia 5 by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. This octa-core chipset is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB UFS memory. This memory can be expandable up to 512GB via microSDXC.


This Snapdragon 855 chipset is a powerful processor and Sony Xperia 5 is capable of doing a heavy-duty performance with ease. This device runs on Android 9.0 Pie


As there is an ongoing trend of using 48MP, 64MP 108MP camera sensors, we have a triple camera of the same size 12MP in the rear side of this Xperia 5. Price and Availability

Well, this Lite version of Sony Xperia is only available in the European market at the price of $799.99. Its been long we haven't seen Sony's Xperia devices in Nepal. So, this particular Sony Xperia 5's launched in Nepal is also very uncertain. If launched, this Sony Xperia 5 could cost around Rs.90K-Rs.100K in Nepal.
