Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Overview

Design & Build Quality

For over eight years, Note family has brought some incredible phones and for the 10th series, Samsung approached with two different phones in Note series. The design of Note 10 series is what you expect from a flagship i.e. great screen, great Built quality, and great design. If you see the front of the phone, all you see the screen and almost no bezels on both phones. Samsung has done an amazing job to create a beauty like the Note 10 series. On the front of the phone, all you can see is a small in-display camera and screen.

The top and bottom bezels are almost non-existence and there are no side bezels as well. I think Samsung has finally done what no competition has done that is a pure screen. At the top of the phone, they even managed to implement an earpiece and a few sensors which are just amazing. The Note9 was a bit more conservative with its display curvature compared to the S10 and this is fortunately still the case with the Note10.

Talking about the screen, Samsung always had one of the best screens in the smartphone industry. Samsung Galaxy Note10+ features a 6.8" Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED QHD+, 1440 x 3040px resolution; 19:9 aspect ratio; 498ppi; HDR10+ certified screen and for Samsung Galaxy Note 10 a 6.3" Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED FHD+, 1080 x 2280px resolution; 19:9 aspect ratio; 401ppi; HDR10+ certified screen is used. To achieve this futuristic design, Samsung has compromised some of the best features that only Samsung had left like3 3.5mm headphone jack, heart rate sensor and an iris scanner which is quite sad. Especially not having a headphone jack is a letdown for thousands of Samsung users.

Both Note 10 and Note 10+ have a power key on the left side and volume keys just above it. In Note 10 series, the Bixby key is now officially gone instead, you can call on the assistant by long-pressing the home button.

Not only Note 10+ has the biggest screen ever on Note phone but also has one of the best screens. When compared to the Super AMOLED screen of Note 9 and Samsung Galaxy S10 phones, Note 10 series has increased focus on HDR10+ which allows Note 10 and Note 10+ to read and play modern HDR content. When comparing the screen of Note 10 and Note 10 Plus, not only Note 10 has a smaller screen of 6.3 inches it also has a lower resolution of FHD+ and has a pixel density of 401ppi which is even lower than the 438ppi on the Samsung Galaxy S10e.

Camera

Both Note 10 and Note 10+ has an updated camera’s from S10+ and cameras of Note 10 series is one of the strong aspects. Note 10 features a triple camera setup on the back with 12 MP, f/1.5-1.8-2.4, 27mm 1/2.55", 1.4µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS Primary lens, a 12 MP, f/2.1, 52mm telephoto lens with 1/3.6", 1.0µm, AF, OIS, 2x optical zoom and 16 MP, f/2.2, 12mm ultrawide angle lens. Note 10 plus also has the same camera setup but features an extra lens which is TOF 3D VGA Camera.

As for the video, Both Samsung Note 10 series can shoot up to 4K @ 60 fps with OIS. Not only that, Samsung has revealed a new feature for the video which is known as Super Steady mode which is quite better compared to one of Samsung 10 series.

As for the front-facing camera, both phone features, 10 MP, f/2.2, 26mm (wide), 1.22µm, Dual Pixel PDAF sensor which also can shoot up to 4k@30 fps which is also great for a front-facing camera. For the camera performance, we will review the phone later on. So stay tuned for that with us.

Performance

The global version of the Note10 pair gets the just announced Exynos 9825 chipset, which brings about a slight boost in GPU performance. In other markets like China and the United States, Note 10 will feature Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 (7 nm) chipset. And we all know how much power these chipsets are. As they are the same chipset that was being used on the Samsung Galaxy S10 series. So we know that Note 10 is going to perform great. Samsung also claims that Game Mode is now even smarter thanks to AI and can deliver up to 10% better performance.

As for the storage, Note 10 features 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. As for Note 10+, it features 12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of internal storage.

Battery

Note 10 is powered by a 3500 mAh battery whereas Note 10+ features a massive 4300 mAh battery which is an upgrade from 4000 mAh in Note 9 and 4100 mAh in S10 plus. Samsung has finally moved on with a 15-watt charger and comes with a new 25-watt charger out of the box. Note 10+ can go up with a 45-watt charger but you need to buy it separately. It also features Fast Qi/PMA wireless charging 20W.

S-Pen

One of the key-difference between Note series and S series is the S-Pen on Note series. As for the design, it now comes with bluish or purplish kind of color and features a few tricks but the core functionality of S-pen is still unchanged.  It measures 5.8 x 4.35 x 105.08mm and tips the scale at 3.04 grams. Currently, S-pen has become more capable as it can be used as remote control of the phone.
