Redmi K30 5G and K30 4G Officially Launched | Features 5G, 765G SoC, Punch Hole Display and More
After the massive success of the Redmi K20 Series, the Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi is all prepared to bring the K30 series. The K20 series was launched back in May and now the company has launched the K30 series. The new Redmi K30 phone has launched on December 10. It was expected that Redmi K30 and K30 Pro will be released on the same date but according to the rumors, the release of K30 Pro will shift to March 2020.
The General Manager had earlier teased the 2020 timeline about the Redmi as a “5G Pioneer.” The company claims that the Redmi brand is the first smartphone company to adopt the latest 5G supporting chipset. We can expect that the company is referring to a unique price point for a 5G phone. Redmi K30 might most probably be the cheapest 5G phone. The K30 series will support dual-mode 5G, which is a first for Redmi smartphones to have this feature.
Overview of Redmi K30 5G and K30 4G
The first rumors about the K30 started back in August. At the time, Weibing had confirmed that the phone will feature 5G connectivity. Another former teaser from the Xiaomi official confirmed a punch-hole display on the Redmi K30. But the rumors had come to life, Redmi K30 has a dual front camera in the pill-shaped punch-hole housing which looks almost similar to that of Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.
Display and Design
While it comes to the specifications of the device, both the Redmi K30 5G and 4G packs a massive 6.66-inch FHD+ (1080x2400 pixels) display with a 120Hz refresh rate. So, the display will have 395 PPI density and adapt to the 20:9 aspect ratio. Not only that, the device had shipped with MIUI 11 out of the box. Redmi K30 comes with a beautiful display surrounded by slim bezels on three sides. There is an oval-shaped punch hole in the upper-right corner for the dual selfie camera, which is another first for the Chinese phone maker. Looking closely, we can also spot the phone has a very wide earpiece at the top so that it will boost the sound of the front-facing speaker.
Hardware and Camera
Recent information states that the Redmi K30 5G variant has a Snapdragon 765G processor that comprises eight cores while standard Redmi K30 4G variant comes with Snapdragon 730G. Only couples of day ago Qualcomm had released these chipsets and according to their claim, this is the most powerful mid-range chipset available in the market. The octa-core processor and Adreno 618 GPU will provide adequate power to handle day to day task and this chipset configuration is capable of handling 5G connectivity.
The front panel has a dual-camera setup with a 20MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. While at the back of the device Quad camera setup is implemented vertically in a circular housing. The primary 64MP f/1.8 camera sensor is supposed to capture decent photos and videos. Additionally, there is an 8MP ultrawide sensor, 2MP depth sensor and 5MP macro sensor on the 5G variant whereas there is a 2MP macro sensor on the 4G variant. Combining powerful camera hardware and process, it will capture great images and videos. According to official information, 4K video (2160p @30fps), FHD(1080p up to 240fps) and HD(720p continuous 960fps) can be recorded by Redmi K30.
Battery and Additional Features
To power up the Redmi K30 series, 4,500 mAh battery is implemented. The 5G variant supports 30W fast charging and the 4G supports the 27W charging. The phone will easily survive for a day even with intense usage. The fingerprint sensor has been placed at the side of the device and Xiaomi also included a 3.5mm headphone port with this phone.

Price, Release Date, and Availability
So, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had launched affordable Xiaomi phones with 5G support. According to Jun all of Xiaomi’s phones launched in the first half of 2020 for $285 or more and will offer 5G connectivity. And in fact, Redmi K30 5G costs only about $280 for the baseline version and but it comes with 5G support.

Similarly, 6/128GB Variant cost 1,799 in China and its expected price in Nepal is Rs. 29,990. But the Redmi K30 5G variant comes at a higher price tag of 1,999 Yuan. That means the Redmi K30 5G 6/64 GB variant is expected to cost about Rs. 34,499/- in Nepal.
