Qualcomm will Announce Snapdragon 865 in December | Flagship SoC for 2020

Qualcomm is undoubtedly the leader of the mobile processor despite MediaTek’s tough fight. Their Snapdragon Series chipset is popular among most of the smartphones. Snapdragon 855 is one of the widely used SoC in 2019 in most of the flagship devices this year and now, its time for an update. Qualcomm has set date, December 3-5 for the annual Snapdragon Tech Summit and its likely to unveil the Snapdragon 865.

From Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus to Nubia Red Magic 3, Snapdragon 855 is widely popular this year for flagship and gaming devices. The possibility is almost 100% that Qualcomm will announce the successor of Snapdragon 855 as Snapdragon 865. The annual Snapdragon Summit will include all the upcoming products of Qualcomm and SD 865 is expected to te the star of the show.

Qualcomm is able to keep most of the things safe and secret about the SD 865. They are likely to be built on the 7nm EUV process from Samsung. Samsung’s EUV process consumes less power and provides extra space. This new chipset is expected to come with updated Adreno GPU, new CPU cores and focused more on image processing and machine learning. Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset is likely to support LPDDR5X RAM as well as UFS 3.0 flash storage. This SD 865 is expected to come in two variants: LTE variant and 5G variant with Qualcomm X55 Modem.

Apart from Snapdragon 865, the other product that might make debut during the event is an upgraded version of Snapdragon 8cx SoC. This SD 8cx SoC is Qualcomm’s first dedicated laptop chip announced last year and this SoC may get update this year. Some rumors suggest Qualcomm is working on Snapdragon Wear chip for smartwatches. Well, if the rumors are true, we’ll get this product during the event.
