Oppo Reno 2F Review: Are People Buying This Phone ?
The Oppo Reno 2 is one of the best mid-range smartphones available in the market. It offers better hardware at a reasonably affordable price. Don’t expect it to perform like a flagship but definitely, Reno 2F provides whatever users want. As Oppo Reno 2F is officially launched in Nepal since 18th October, customers can buy Reno 2F 8/128GB variant at Rs. 46,990/-.
Overview of Oppo Reno 2F
One of the latest most popular smartphone released by Oppo is Reno 2F as a successor of Reno 2. The major attractive point of this smartphone is the quad rear camera setup with 48MP primary sensor, full-screen front panel, pop-up selfie camera and a 4000 mAh battery with 20W fast charging. Not only that the design is stylish and eye-catchy.
Display and Design
Reno 2F has a 6.53-inch FHD+(2340X1080 Pixels) AMOLED Panel which adopts 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display looks stunning and can provide adequate saturation, color contrast, and sharpness while looking at the device. The display looks clean as there is no punch-hole, no notch and bezel are thin. The display of the device is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 at the top and bottom. At the front, 16MP front-facing camera is hidden under motorized pop-up housing. There is an under-display optical fingerprint sensor underneath the screen which is improved and can unlock the device more accurately and efficiently.
The back of the phone has a glass panel and embedded within the panel is a quad-camera in housing. Besides the camera, there is a dual-LED flash at back. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom of the phone and, there is also a single bottom-firing speaker. The audio quality is better than competitors as it produces no distortion even at maximum volume and it also produces clear sounds. The design of the phone looks a lot similar to Reno 2 and comes in either Lake Green or Sky White color option.
Chipset and Performance
Oppo Reno 2F runs on ColorOS 6.1 which is based on Android 9 Pie. Personally, I don’t like 3rd party app pre-installed in device, but you can easily uninstall preset apps like ORoaming, Lazada, Opera, etc. from the device. The device is powered by octa-core Media-Tek Helio P70 chipset which consists of four Cortex A73 cores clocking at 2.1GHz and four Cortex A50 cores clocking at 2.0 GHz. The CPU is coupled with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU and it only comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage Option. The provided hardware is capable enough to process normal daily tasks like media consumption, internet surfing, and casual gaming without a hiccup but the high graphical process required title can have difficulty running smoothly for a longer period of time. The storage provided seem adequate but the good news is that users can expand storage by up to 256GB using an external microSD card.
Camera, Photo and Video Quality
The back of the device has a quad-camera setup with a primary 48MP sensor. This sensor can capture a decent photo and video. Besides the primary sensor, there is an 8MP ultrawide sensor, 2MP monochrome sensor and a 2MP depth sensor are present. The image quality seem good but not as excellent as what we get from flagship phones. All camera has decent contrast and dynamic range but the image looks a little more saturated. At from there is a 16MP camera sensor in a motorized pop-up housing. The image looks nice and the light exposure and color tone seems natural, but the AI-assisted portrait mode can sometimes have difficulty separating background. Moreover, at low light situation shots seem to have lots of grain and moving objects are lot blurry, which is minimized if shots are taken using Night Mode. the video captured by Reno 2F also has adequate details and got decent contrast and dynamic range but what I felt is that video is shakier than what other device shots due to unavailability of OIS and EIS. Here are some sample shots captured by Reno 2F.
Battery and Other Features
There is a 4000mAh battery inside Reno 2F and I am impressed with its performance. Users can last a whole day of device usage without being worry about recharge. The battery test claimed that Reno 2F has a screen on time of 10hr 40min under normal usage. But when I played standard video after fully charging, it lasted for whooping 22 hr 8min before it gave up. Not only that the 20W fast charging feature called VOOC 3.0 can charge the device up to 50% under 30minutes of charging time.
For added security, there are two types of biometric sensors. First, the in-display fingerprint sensor is reasonably faster than what we found in the previous device and it is accurate too. The unlocking of the device using an under-display optical fingerprint sensor is one of the features I loved in this device. Similarly, you can also unlock the device using face unlock which is slow as Reno 2F has to wait for a camera module to pop-up first before scanning the face. About the connectivity, there is a dual 4G SIM, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth V5.0, GPS GLONASS, etc.
