OPPO K1: Budget Phone with in-display Fingerprint Sensor
Just on the first month of 2019, OPPO released its new mid-range budget phone known as OPPO K1 in Indian Market. According to the OPPO, OPPO K1 is the cheapest smartphone within the display fingerprint sensor right now. In-Display fingerprint scanner, a water drop design, AMOLED Screen and a dual camera as the rear camera are the highlights of this phone. So, let’s go through this phone in more detail now.
OPPO K1 comes with a super AMOLED 6.4 inch full HD+ screen with 91% screen to body ratio along with a corning gorilla glass 5 for protection. An AMOLED screen is quite rare in this mid-segment range. Overall the color and brightness are quite great as you expect from an AMOLED screen. With the help of teardrop notch, the front panel of the screen looks quite great and increases the screen to body ratio. On the back of the screen, we have a dual camera setup and there is no fingerprint sensor on the back as OPPO K1 have an in-display fingerprint sensor. OPPO have used their popular gradient effect on the back which looks quite premium. A golden metal ring is added on the camera section which enhances the looks and is quite good in our opinion.
So, with the help of AMOLED screen, OPPO has managed to use the in-display fingerprint which has been impossible for LCD screen till now. That’s why OPPO K1 is the most affordable smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor till now. The OPPO K1 is equipped with a light-sensitive screen fingerprint technology, which uses a screen-down lens scheme to unlock the handset. Another great thing about this phone is that this phone supports a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As for the performance, OPPO K1 has not compromised anything and provide great specification in this price range. An Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 (14nm) chipset is used to power the phone with Android 8.1 Oreo and their own ColorOS 5.2. It comes with two variants of RAM with 4GB and 6 GB. So with the help of 6 GB, almost every application works smoothly and multi-tasking can also be done quite smoothly and will not have any problems with the application running in the background. It comes with a 64 GB of internal storage and you can expand it up to 256 GB as it has a microSD dedicated slot.
OPPO K1 features dual rear camera set up with 16 MP, f/1.8, 1/2.8", 1.12µm, PDAF 2 MP, f/2.4, depth sensor. Taking good quality photos has always been OPPO’s strength and the same goes with this OPPO K1. In a bright environment and good lighting condition, it can take amazingly good pictures. The picture quality is very good and the details are also very good. In terms of low light, the images are great with good details and very less noise. As for the videos, it can shoot up to 4K @ 30 fps. On the front, it rocks a 25MP AI based camera which is capable to shoot some great selfies.
OPPO K1 is powered by a 3600 mAh battery. Overall the battery performance is quite good and runs for a day easily. One complaint that we have is that there is no UBS type-c and supports only microUSB 2.0. Though there is no USB type C, it supports a fast charging which is a plus point. When tested, it can charge from 0 to 100% in just 1.5 hours.
Overall, OPPO K1 is a great phone with great features like AMOLED screen, in-display fingerprint sensors, Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset, a massive 3600 mAh battery and more. Let’s see how it competes with different phones like Samsung Galaxy M20, Redmi Note 7 Pro, RealMe 2 Pro. What do you think about this new smartphone and its in-display fingerprint sensor?
