Sujan Koirala 17 Oct, 2020

We usually witness two hardware launch events of OnePlus every year: one for regular smartphone and the second for T-Version of the same lineup. This year is different. We got OnePlus Nord as a surprise and another surprise is now added as the company launch only OnePlus 8T but no OnePlus 8T Pro. OnePlus 8T is launched at the price of INR. 42,999 (Converted | ~Rs. 68K Nepali Price).

OnePlus 8T Overview

Sadly, the OnePlus 8T Pro is not coming his year. According to the company, the OnePlus 8 Pro is already the premium device and there is no room for upgrade within this year. OnePlus 8T sits between OnePlus 8 and OnePlus Nord. Let’s dig into the OnePlus 8T and find out what upgrades it brings over the original OnePlus 8 Lineup.

Display/Design

We can see some design changes in the OnePlus 8T over the previous lineup. OnePlus 8T has a flat display replacing the curve design of its predecessor. OnePlus comes in a 6.55-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 2400 x 1080-pixel resolution, 91.9% screen-to-body ratio, and 1100 nits of peak brightness. The punch hole cut-out is placed at the top left corner for housing the Selfie Camera. Most importantly, it has a 120Hz refresh rate replacing the 90Hz refresh rate panel of its predecessor.

The rear camera module now is rectangular with a back panel having a glossy design as it misses Matte finish. The fingerprint sensor is still under the display.

Performance

Under the hood, the OnePlus 8T is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, the same processor that powers the original lineup. Remembering the trend, the T-lineup of OnePlus smartphones used to be powered by the “Plus” variant of Qualcomm chipset but this is not the case this year. It will arrive in two LPDDR4x RAM variants: 8/12GB and two UFS 3.1 ROM variants: 128/256GB depending upon the regions. With the help of Snapdragon X55 Modem, this smartphone supports dual-mode 5G (SA/ NSA).

Camera

Talking about the optics, we have quad-rear cameras supported by two different LED Flash. 48MP Sony IMS 586 main sensor with OIS is supported by 16MP wide-angle camera with a 123-degree FOV, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome sensor. On the front, it has a 16MP Selfie camera inside the tiny punch-hole.

Battery & Others

OnePlus 8T is fueled by a 4,500mAh battery with the support of 65W Warp Charge technology. According to the company, it will fully charge the device within 39minutes and 15-minutes of charge will bring around 58% charge. It’s running on Android 11 with OxygenOS 11. This device lacks an IP rating and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
