It’s just been a month that OnePlus had released its latest flagship phones OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro with minor improvement over OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. According to the recent rumor, new OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will soon be launched in the first quarter of 2020. Based on the previous trend the form factor and major upgrades could be seen this time.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro Overview

The major change that we could see is in its front display panel. For the first time, one plus will release a smartphone with a punch-hole display. Previously OnePlus had been releasing its flagship killer phones with a water-drop notch and the premium Pro version with a full-screen body placing front-facing camera in a motorized pop-up housing. This time both of the devices will have a punch-hole display to embed a 16MP front-facing camera. OnePlus 8 Pro will have a slightly larger screen 6.65-inch compare to a 6.55-inch screen of OnePlus 8. Both panels are Fluid AMOLED panel with 1440X3120 pixels resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The rumor suggests that OnePlus 8 will have a 90Hz display while OnePlus 8 Pro will have 120 Hz display, which is a huge step up as previously this year OnePlus had released first 90Hz screen in OnePlus 7 AMOLED panel and just under a year the display technology is stepping up to have a faster refresh rate screen. In the market, there are very devices like Asus ROG Phone 2Black Shark 2 Pro, and Razer Phone 2 which have 120 Hz screens. Similarly, it is expected that OnePlus 8 will have a flat display while OnePlus 8 Pro will have a curve display.

Hardware and Chipsets

According to the rumor, both of the devices will have the same process and it is most likely that they will implement the latest Qualcomm chipset. It is highly possible that Snapdragon 865 chipset will be used in these devices as only high-end latest chipset had been used in its predecessors. If it is not the case, then it will settle for Snapdragon 855+ chipset with higher clocking speed. Similarly, the CPU will be paired with Adreno 640 GPU for the best graphic performance.

Customers will have the option to buy either 8GB or 12 GB RAM variants with 128GB or 256 GB storage options once it got officially released. The best hardware configuration and faster UFS 3.0 Storage technology will let this device run any graphic and CPU intensive task in the highest setting.

Camera

OnePlus 8 will have a triple camera setup at the back of the phone while OnePlus 8 Pro will have an additional 3D depth sensor along with a triple camera setup. Similarly, a single 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera will be embedded in the punch-hole display. The rear camera will have a 48 MP f/1.6 lens as a primary sensor. 8MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom and 16 MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor will also be there on both devices.

Users will be able to capture 4K (2160p at 30/60 fps) or FHD (1080p @ 30/60/240 fps) or HD (720p @ 960 fps) videos. As cameras are one of the major places every phone companies are focusing, we expect that OnePlus will improve the quality of photo and videos in OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.

Battery and Other Features

Last time we have seen 4085 mAh battery in OnePlus 7T Pro (one of the biggest in its series), and OnePlus 8 will likely have a similar-sized battery but lightly increased capacity in OnePlus 8 Pro. But no official information is available regarding the size and endurance time of the battery of both devices.

Moreover, we will still have an optic under-display fingerprint sensor which will unlock the device even faster. These devices will also support 5G or variants that support 5G will be separately released. For customers who want high specs, a special edition or McLaren edition will also be released
