Recently, HMD Global has announced Nokia 2.3 and they’ll come soon in the market. And now, they come up again with a new entry-level device as Nokia C1. Nokia’s C-Series used to be very popular when Nokia was on the throne of the Smartphones Market. To gain the same popularity, HMD Global announced a new version of C-Series as a Nokia C1 which is a proper entry-level device. This Nokia C1 was launched in the African market at the price of KES 5,999 (~Rs.7K Nepali Price). Now, the distributor of Nokia phones, Telatalk Pvt. Ltd has launched this Nokia C1 in Nepal at the price of Rs.6,499.

Nokia C1 Overview

Nokia has marketed this device as a “Level Up” so let’s find out what actually HMD Global has improved in its hardware and software.

Nokia C1 comes with a plastic body and as an entry-level device, we’re not expecting a glass body. That’s fine. It has a 5.45-inch FWVGA+ IPS LCD display with a toughened glass display. Looking at the physical overview of this device, it has thick bezels on the top as well as on the bottom.

For the performance capacity, Nokia C1 is equipped with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This storage is expandable up to 64GB via MicroSD card. Nokia C1 is powered by a Quad-core processor with a clock speed up to 1.3GHz but the name of the processor is not mentioned.

Talking about the camera, Nokia C1 features a single camera on both sides. On the rear side, we have a 5MP lens with f/2.4 aperture and LED flash. The same camera configuration can be found on front for selfie shooter: 5MP with LED flash

Nokia C1 is fueled with a 2500mAh battery with a 5V charger. This device is running on the Android 9 Pie Go Version and comes with the lite apps like Gallery Go, Youtube Go and so on. Furthermore, it has a dedicated Google Assistant button at the left of the phone, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio, GPS, 2.4GHz WiFi.

One of the disappointing specs of this Nokia C1 is it only supports 3G networks meaning we cant use the 4G network here. Everyone is moving from physical SIM to eSIM and 4G to 5G and Nokia is still sticking with 3G. Not Impressed.

Price and Availability

Nokia C1 was available in some African market and the global launch of this device is slowly getting pace. Comparing the price at the African market, we were expecting the price of Nokia C1 in Nepal to be around Rs.7K. But, Nokia C1 launched in Nepal at an even cheaper cost at Rs.6,499. Yet, it would be hard for Nokia C1 to survive in the Nepali market as we have plenty of options in the entry-level segment as Galaxy A10, Redmi Go and many more.
