Motorola One Hyper unveiled with 64MP Main, 32MP Pop-up Selfie Camera

Sabin Tamang 12 Dec, 2019

In recent times, Motorola has been launching some amazing phones like Motorola Razr 2019. Recently, they have launched another phone in the budget segment i.e. Motorola One Hyper. The phone has decent specs with good pricing. The phone is now available in the US with the price tag of $399 and the phone will soon be launched in the European markets as well.

Design and Build Quality

Talking about the design of the phone, it features a bezel-less screen on the front which just looks great and has a motorized pop-up front-facing the camera. On the back of the phone, it features dual-camera set up with 64 MP primary lens and 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

It also features a physical fingerprint sensor on the back and the back design of the phone looks quite great as well. Especially the dual camera set up on the back. The phone features a 6.5 inch IPS LCD panel with a full HD+ screen. I am quite disappointed as at this price range there is no AMOLED panel. Most of the phones at this price range have an AMOLED screen. Though it is an IPS LCD screen, the colors look great and the screen is also quite bright and Motorola calls it a Total vision screen.

Performance

In terms of performance, it features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset based on 11nm technology. The chipset is also a letdown for me as they should at least have included Qualcomm Snapdragon 730. For this price point, Snapdragon 675 is for low-end budget phones. It features an Octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Kryo 460 Gold & 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 460 Silver) CPU and Adreno 612 GPU.

In terms of memory, the phone comes with 4 GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also features an external microSD slot and can extend the memory up to 128 GB. As for normal usage, the phone will perform quite good and will not lag. The multitasking and normal gaming would also be fine. The phone runs Android 10 out of the box and sports the well-liked Moto Actions.

Camera

Motorola One Hyper comes with dual camera set up on the back with 64MP primary sensor and 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The secondary camera on the back is a 118° ultra-wide shooter with an 8MP sensor (and not a depth sensor like rumors claimed).

In terms of video recording, the phone can record videos at 4K @ 30 fps only. There is no 60fps recording and has other features like slow-motion videos.

As for the front-facing camera, it features a 32MP motorized pop-up camera which features quad-pixel binning technology which helps to capture even more detailed photos in low-lighting condition. Not only that, but it can also capture slow-motion videos. This is the first time Motorola has built a phone with a pop-up camera.

Battery

Motorola One Hyper is powered by 4000mAh battery and comes with an 18watt fast charger out of the box. The phone also supports 45-watt charger but for that, you have to buy it separately. Motorola claims that the phone can last up to 38 hours after a single full charge which is just amazing.
