LG Velvet Launched Officially | Will it find its place in Tech Market?

LG has still not given up on its smartphone business. After teasing the launch of a new device for weeks, South-Korean Giant has finally launched its new Smartphone dubbed as LG Velvet. The device is a premium mid-range smartphone that arrives packing several features that are mostly exclusive to flagships. LG Velvet is priced at 899,800 won(Converted | ~Rs.89.2K Nepali Price) in South Korea

LG Velvet Overview

LG Velvet is supposed to be the replacement for the brand’s G-series smartphones. LG Velvet features a curved design, raindrop-style cameras, and the Snapdragon 765G chipset on it. Let’s know more in detail about the specs of the LG Velvet. 

Design/Display

LG Velvet will be the 1st LG device to feature a new design language. It differs from the G-series with the minimalistic design. The smartphone sports a 6.8-inch OLED FHD+ display with 2460 x 1080 pixel resolutions. It boasts an aspect ratio of 20.5:9 and a waterdrop notch that houses a 16MP camera. It also has an IP68 water resistance rating.

Camera    

Now coming to the optics of LG Velvet, it has a rear camera design that mimics falling raindrops. It has a triple rear camera design that consists of a 48MP primary sensor (with OIS support), an 8MP ultra-wide lens and, a 5MP depth sensor. 

It includes a 16MP front-facing camera for you to capture beautiful selfies. It comes with various attractive and impressive camera and video recording features such as time-lapse with automatic and manual speed change, a steady cam feature, ASMR recording, voice out-of-focus which reduces background noise in videos and focuses on the voice of the user, etc.

Performance

Under the hood, LG Velvet comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset. It is coupled with the 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. On the software front, it runs on Android 10 out of the box. It has a fingerprint sensor at the rear for security.

Battery  

LG Velvet is backed up by the massive battery of 4,300mAh battery along with the fast charging support onboard. It also has 10W wireless charging. It arrives in four different color variants such as Aurora White, Aurora Gray, Aurora Green, and Illusion Sunset.

Price And Availability

LG Velvet got launched on May 7 and it is available for pre-order starting from May 8th in South Korea. It is priced at 899,800 won in South Korea. No info is provided regarding the availability of the device in global markets. If the smartphone is launched here, the price of LG Velvet is expected to be around Rs.91,999 in Nepal. The smartphone might not be able to find its place in the market as its price is much high for a mid-range device. So, let us know your views on this device.
