iOS 14 Overview
With iOS14, Apple is giving many updates that fans have been asking for years. Let’s check some of the cool and major updates coming with iOS14.
1. App Library
iOS 14 has a new “App Library” at the end of pages. It’s an organized and collective view of all the apps we have on our iPhone. This App Library will automatically organize all the apps into one simple, easy‑to‑navigate view and are sorted by category. We will also get Recently Added apps and Most Used apps.
Widgets get a big update with iOS14. Now, they are available in Home Screen and you can easily organize or resize them. You can choose different sizes for the widgets and arrange them however you like. There is also a new Smart Stack Widget that uses machine learning to learn which widget you need at what time.
3. Compact Call Screen
Those days are gone in which call screen used to take all the home screen. Now, we have a compact call screen in the form of a banner. Call from your iPhone, FaceTime, and third-party apps display in an all-new compact design and won’t take full screen.
4. Picture in Picture
Finally, Apple brings PiP(Picture in Picture) mode which Android used to have since long ago. Bring PiP window around, pinch to zoom, and enjoy PiP mode. Apple is yet to announce which apps will support this feature but we will soon know them.
5. Siri Updates
First thing first, Siri gets compact just like calls. Now, Siri won’t take the whole screen else you will get the banner icon at the button of the screen which you start it. Also, Siri has over 20x more facts than just three years ago. Furthermore, you can now send audio messages with iMessages Via Siri.
Some other features/updates that you will get in iOS14 are:
- Smart Home controls
- Update in Privacy
- Updates in Maps and iMessages
