Huawei Y9s Overview

To be frank, this upgrade in Huawei Y9s over Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is noticeable in very few specs. Most of the specs are the same as the previous version; the same screen size, the same battery size, and the same processor.

Design/Display

The screen of this Huawei Y9s is clean and beautiful, its 6.59” HUAWEI Ultra FullView display without any notches or bezels. With 91% screen to body ratio, Huawei Y9s delivers an ultra-wide interface to watch videos or play games. This display supports 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution and has 391 PPI.

The back of this device comes with two charming colors that look beautiful when lights fall from different angles. It has a polished glass body with a 3D arc design.

Performance

Huawei Y9s is powered by an in-house Kirin 710F chipset. The octa-core SoC efficiently enhances the running speed and lowers the power consumption, claims the company. It comes in a single variant of a 6/128GB RAM/ROM variant. The storage can be expanded up to 512GB via Micro SD Card. 

This phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which is capable of unlocking the device within 0.3 seconds.

Camera

The key upgrade in the device over the previous one can be found in its camera. As Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has 16MP primary sensor, we have 48MP AI Triple Rear Camera in this Huawei Y9s. The other camera sensor is an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor with 120-degree FOV and 2MP Depth Sensor. 

On the front, we have the same 16MP Selfie shooter in the pop-up module with f/2.2 aperture. But the company promises it has upgraded AI Beauty Algorithm for taking better portraits and bringing clarity in images.

Battery and OS

Fueled by 4,000mAh battery, Huawei Y9s promises to support talk time of 40 hours, music playback for 80 hours and video playback for 9 hours. It’s running on EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie.
