Huawei Mate 30 Pro Launched Nepal: Powerhouse without Google Play Services

Huawei has presented its new flagship smartphones: Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro as a successor of P30 and P30 Pro (for detail on P30 and P30 Pro click here). These devices are the brilliant and most stunning phone the world had ever seen. These smartphones had launched in the European market earlier this year and now it is finally available in the market of Nepal. The price of Huawei Mate 30 Pro in Nepal is Rs. 1,29,900 for the 8/256GB variant.

Display and Design

Taking about the display, Mate 30 has a screen size of 6.62 inches while the screen of Mate 30 Pro consists of 6.53 inches horizon display with 88% and 94% screen to body ratio respectively. Both phones support DCI-P3 and HDR. Similarly, OLED full HD display with 18.5:9 and 19.5:9 aspect ratio, allow users to see content even in sunny outdoors.

Even though lots of smartphone companies are adopting to minimize chin and punch hole on display, both Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro has a chunky notch up top. But the space is wisely used, on Mate 30, dual camera (one 24 MP, f/2.0 main sensor and another 3D TOF camera) is embedded in the notch whereas in Mate 30 Pro a selfie camera (32MP, f/2.0) 3D depth sensor, ambient light sensor, and a new gesture sensor is put in place.

The auto screen rotation is now control by eye-tracking which means you do not have to be annoyed by auto-rotation while lying in bed. Even though Mate 30 has an earpiece on the top of the phone, Mate 30 Pro lack one. It uses acoustic vibration which is felt when users make a call.

Camera

Taking about the back of the phone, both have a similar design. The phone got halo ring design mounting quad and triple camera setup respectively, and the position of them reminded me of old Lumia 1020 design which is adorable. The camera used by Huawei has impressive hardware ever seen on a smartphone.  In Mate 30 triple-lens setup allows the device to have 40 MP RYYB, f/1.8 main sensor; 16MP ultra-wide, f/2.2 sensor and 8MP telephoto, f/2.4 sensor with OIS. It came even capture impressive macro shots, thanks to the laser focus technology.

The camera setup is slightly different in Mate 30 Pro, here quad-camera are embedded. The main 40MP sensor has super sensing wide RYYB, f/1.6 with OIS. This is supported by 40MP secondary camera with ultra-wide cine camera RGGB, f/1.8 and another telephoto lens have f/1.4 with OIS sensor which allows a user to have 3 times optical zoom and 30 times digital zoom. Finally, as a fourth camera sensor, a 3D depth sensor is also embedded.

Mate 30 video footage is also quite impressive; it can shoot video in 4K up to 30 fps whereas Mate 30 Pro can record 4k video in 60 fps. Not only that, mate 30 Pro can shoot at ultra-low light with an ISO level of 409600 which no other smartphone has offered. Similarly, Mate 30 can shoot ultra-slow motion footage, 32 times slower than real life while Mate 30 Pro can shoot ultra-slow motion footage at 7680 fps that is 256 times slower than real-life footage. Which is 8 times slower than what Samsung ultra-slow motion video offers.

Hardware and Performance

If you are the user of Huawei phone you might have noticed that they only use their own chipset for their smartphones. But the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro are the first of its kind which used octa-core 7nm Kirin 990 chipsets.  Mate 30 comes with either 6 or 8 GB Ram and 128 GB storage which can be increased up to 256 GB using nano memory slot shared as SIM slot. Similarly, Mate 30 Pro has 8 GB RAM and either 128 or 256 GB storage options with a Nano memory slot option.

Also, the phone supports 5G options depending on the market. About the size of the battery, Mate 30 Pro has 4200 mAh battery capacity and Mate 30 Pro has 4500 mAh battery capacity combining with 40W fast charging and 27W wireless charging user will no longer have to worry about the battery life. Both of the devices also support reverse wireless charging letting users to power other accessories.

Features

Not only that, the flat screen of mate 30 and the 90-degree curve screen of mate 30 Pro provide a stunning look to the phone.  The peculiar outlook of mate 30 devices either has a full glossy glass back or leather accent which provides a gorgeous look to the smartphone. Furthermore, the mate 30 is IP53 water and dust resistant while mate 30 pro is IP68 water and dust resistant certified to prevent accidental water damage. The curve screen of mate 30 pro does not allow enough space for the volume button which means users have to double tap on the edge which will pop up volume controller.

Finally, both of the devices pack Android 10 out of the box with EMUI 10 on top which allows users to have smoother user interface experience. Huawei also emphasized on the security of both mate devices, and support in-screen fingerprint sensor and also 3D face recognition. More to this for the privacy purpose, the new AI private view detect peaking by another person at user massages and cover the information on the lock screen, securing the personal data.

Others

Additionally, during the launch, another model, Mate 30 RS with Porsche design is also released. The specification is similar to Mate 30 Pro, and the design consists of exclusive Porsche-inspired leather back with 512GB storage and 12 GB RAM option. And Huawei Watch GT2, second-generation smartwatch of Huawei, was also premiered during the launch. The smartwatch uses the proprietary OS, with a 1.39-inch OLED screen and packed with battery life as long as for two weeks.
