Honor is bringing top-level specifications in its smartphones at a very reasonable price which is the major reason Honor phones are getting more popular day by day more in Asian countries like China, Nepal, and India. With the phones like Honor Play and Honor View 20 also known as Honor V20 which established the brand more strongly. Honor announced 3 new phones in Honor 20 series i.e. Honor 20 Pro, Honor 20 Lite and the standard Honor 20. Honor 20 Pro is priced INR. 45k in India that means, Price of Honor 20 in Nepal will be around Rs. 70,000.

Design and Build Quality

The overall design and built quality of Honor 20 Pro are excellent and look premium as well. Honor is very proud with the 20 Pro's design and uses glass for the front and back and metal for the side frame. Both the front and back panel is built with glass and aluminum frame on the side. The glassy look is just stunning and Honor 20 Pro features so-called Dynamic Holographic Design. The Honor 20 Pro has one considerable advantage over the standard Honor 20 - it has a curved back to the sides.

On the back of the phone, you will find quad-camera setup and honor logo at the button. The back finish is quite great and feels good on the hand as well. On the front of the phone, we have a 6.26 inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD+ 1080x2340 resolution. Honor 20 features the punch hole front-facing camera on the front with an almost bezel-less screen and only a small chin on the bottom. Unfortunately, for a flagship device, we expected OLED but costs had to be kept down. Overall the display is quite nice and bright and offers pretty good image quality overall however we noticed a small light bleed around the camera hole and the chin. If you don’t like the punch-hole design, then Honor gives you an option to hide that but it isn’t too much exciting as it makes the top portion black and doesn’t shows the camera but shows the notification icons.

Like most Honor devices, the 20 Pro also comes with Magic UI 2.1 on top of the Android 9.0 Pie OS. Honor 20 Pro gives you the different gestures instead of regular software keys like swiping from left or right on the screen, swiping from bottomlands you to the home screen, etc. Honor 20 features a well-known chipset from Huawei which is Kirin 980 which is being used in top flagship phones of Huawei like Huawei Mate 20X, Huawei P30 Pro, Huawei Nova 5 Pro, and Huawei P30, etc.

It also has a Mali-G76 MP10 GPU and our unit is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The overall performance is quite great as you expect from a phone with Kirin 980 and 8 GB of RAM. Heavy games like PubG mobile runs smoothly even on the highest setting and the multi-tasking is also quite efficient.

One of the best features of Honor 20 Pro is the quad-camera setup on the back. The main camera is the flagship Sony IMX 586 sensor from the Honor View 20 but with a twist - it also has OIS and the industry's first f/1.4 aperture. The second one is 8MP f/2.4, 80mm (telephoto), 1/4.4", PDAF/Laser AF, OIS, 3x optical zoom, the third one is a 16 MP, f/2.2, 13mm ultra-wide-angle lens and fourth one is 2 MP, f/2.4, 27mm (wide) dedicated macro camera. Before talking about the performance of the camera let’s check the UI of the camera. The camera app hasn't changed much in the last Magic UI/EMUI iterations.

The normal images in the daytime are quite great. They have great sharpness, great detail, and good sharpening as well. The colors look natural and dynamic range is also quite impressive. Now turning the AI mode on, the photos have more contrast and colors look more vibrant. These images are Instagram ready. Low-light performance is stellar. Using night mode reduces the noise and gives more detail in the images.

The front-facing camera is also great thought there is no auto-focus. The 32 MP lens offers great sharpness, detail and natural colors. The handset can record in 2160@30fps and 1080p@30/60fps - EIS and OIS work together to deliver smooth video recording.

Some Camera Samples.

Honor 20 features a massive 4000 mAh battery. Honor 20 features the fast charging and comes with a 22.5-watt charger which can charge your phone from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes. The battery back-up is decent as you expect from 4000mAh battery. There is nothing extra software optimization to increase battery performance.

The mesmerizing 3D gradient effect

No 3.5mm audio jack or microSD card slot.

Great ergonomics and fingerprint placement (which is also fast and accurate)

Subpar audio output quality

Excellent camera quality across the board

Doesn't come cheap and an OLED screen would have made the deal sweeter.

Battery life is outstanding.

The standard 8GB/256GB config is really sweet

The Honor 20 Pro has a lot to offer, that's for sure but there also seems to be a lot of competition in this price range. At around €600 starting price, the Honor 20 Pro meets heavy rivalry. As in this price range, you can get phones like OnePlus 7. So, the choice is yours.
